I think what really sucks about losing someone to death is the feeling that you are powerless, that you could do nothing to stop it. My grandpa died this morning from emphysema, which means he slowly suffocated to death. What hurts the most is knowing that none of the 5,000 spells in my spellbook could save him or take away the pain he endured while he was dying. I guess that's why people go to religion, so that they feel as though the greater power that they believe in can help them. I mean isn't what praying is? Asking for a little more power to get to over/through something. When someone cast a spell they're chanting for power to guide them. Religions rituals are preformed to make you feel like you can get the power you lost from someone more powerful than yourself so you can again feel as though you have power once more.
